National Lighthouse Day: August 7th. On this day in 1789 Congress approved an Act for the establishment and support of lighthouse, beacons, buoys and public piers. Lighthouses have been navigational guides, beacons of civilization, architectural icons, and symbols safety. Lighthouses also represent a rugged coastal lifestyle of guidance, never-ceasing watchfulness and helpfulness. Take some time this summer to visit one of these majestic structures along our beautiful coast line!
